Personal Injury

The Olson Law Firm assists clients throughout Oklahoma who have suffered serious or catastrophic harm in personal injury incidents, including trucking and commercial vehicle accidents, products liability matters, and complex cases involving traumatic brain injuries and wrongful deaths.  In particular, the firm's attorneys handle:

  • Products liability and defective products matters
  • Trucking, tractor-trailer, 18-wheeler, and commercial vehicle accidents
  • Sexual abuse cases
  • Wrongful or accidental death
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)

When injured victims hire a law firm, they are often already facing extensive medical bills.  Therefore, in addition to providing the highest-quality legal representation, attorneys at the Olson Law Firm take all personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis, meaning that the client pays no fees unless the attorneys successfully recover on his or her behalf.

Understanding the Role of Insurance

To obtain compensation for damages, many accident victims must negotiate with either their own insurance company or the insurer of the person who caused the accident.  It is important to keep in mind that the insurance company's goal is to pay as little on the claim as possible, and experienced attorneys with a strong reputation for taking cases to trial are more likely to be able to obtain fair settlement offers.

In addition to being experienced personal injury attorneys, lawyers at the Olson Law Firm have a wealth of experience handling insurance law matters and can help clients understand their rights under their policies so as to ensure they receive maximum compensation.

Insurance plays an important role in most personal injury accidents, especially those involving cars.  Therefore, it is crucial that drivers understand their coverage so that they know what their policies will cover should an accident occur.  Oklahoma law requires all drivers to establish financial responsibility for their vehicles.  Many drivers elect to satisfy this requirement by maintaining minimum levels of liability insurance, which in Oklahoma is $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person, $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people, and $25,000 for property damage.

However, it is advisable to purchase significantly more coverage than the minimum required.  Bodily injury coverage can be particularly useful for drivers who were injured in an accident and do not have other sources of payment for health care.

Many car insurance policies also include coverage for uninsured or underinsured motorists.  This protects the driver in hit-and-runs and cases where the at-fault driver failed to maintain insurance or had insufficient levels.  While Oklahoma law does not require drivers to have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, it is highly recommended.

The Olson Law Firm encourages accident victims to bring insurance documentation to a consultation with an attorney, allowing him or her to analyze the coverage under the policy and help the victim determine the full compensation to which he or she is entitled.
